Masood Khan elected new President of AJK

MUZZAFFARABAD: Retired seasoned diplomat Masood Khan has been elected as President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir State here on Tuesday for the next five-year constitutional term.According to the Election Commission, the election was held at the lodging hall of AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzzaffarabad in which 48 members of both houses of AJK parliament, AJK Legislative Assembly and AJK council participated.The victorious Masood Khan, the candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), secured 42 votes against his only opponent Ch. Latif Akber of PPP AJK who could secure only six votes.
