Medtronic’s MiniMed 630G Advanced Insulin Pump System **w Available in U.S.

Medtronic*is releasing in the United States its latest MiniMed 630G insulin pump system. The pump relies on the*CONTOUR*NEXT LINK 2.4 blood glucose meter from Ascensia Diabetes Care, a company created when*Panasonic Healthcare Holdings bought*Bayer Diabetes Care. The*CONTOUR*NEXT LINK 2.4 is used to intermittently sample blood to calibrate the conti**us glucose meter, calculate bolus injections, and to trigger boluses discreetly straight*from the meter.
The pump and Guardian Link Transmitter are both waterproof, the pump even letting you s**rkel down to 12 feet (4 meters). The*MiniMed 630G has a bright, high definition screen that runs an interface that Medtronic worked directly with diabetics*to develop.
The system features SmartGuard tech**logy that’s being passed down from the MiniMed 530G. SmartGuard sounds an alarm when glucose levels drop below a preset threshold and if the user does **t respond to the alarm in time, insulin delivery is automatically paused to prevent hypoglycemia. This is particularly useful during the night when glucose levels may be low and the patient would rather continue sleeping.
