RAWALPINDI: Police on Thursday sprung into action and arrested twenty suspects for the recent stabbings of women in the city.
Police sources disclosed that as many as twenty suspects have been arrested in connection with the knife attacks that have been taking place in Rawalpindi and only targeting women. Sources also disclosed that search operations were being conducted in various parts of the city during different times.
Police sources also revealed that the suspect is being hunted for by the law enforcement agencies on the basis of his sketch. Police have also sought help from intelligence agencies to apprehend the suspect or gang of suspects who are involved in the mysterious attacks. All of the attacks so far have taken place within the remits of the Morgah police station, which include Kot Kalian and Rabia Bungalows.
On Sunday night, a nurse was stabbed to death and two women were also injured when they were subjected to the knife attack. As many as twenty-five women had been stabbed in the first three weeks of February alone. Six months later, the stabbing incidences returned as four women were again attacked last week. On Sunday night, three women were attacked of whom nurse Anum Naz succumbed to her wounds.
The resurgence of attacks and fresh wave of stabbings have spread panic and fear among the residents of the locality.
