Health special secy says efficient use of health budget can easily solve
people’s problems, regrets increase in parking fee in hospitals
LAHORE
Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that provision of quality health facilities to the people is top priority of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and ** negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
He said that a third party audit of health facilities had been started. He said the chief minister was chairing daily meetings to ensure best health facilities to the masses.
He said this while chairing a joint meeting of the health managers of Multan and DG Khan divisions at Commissioner ******, Multan, according to a handout issued here on Tuesday.
Health Special Secretary Dr Sajid Chohan, the health EDOs of the districts concerned and medical superintendents of public sector hospitals attended the meeting.
Multan DCO Nadar Chattah and other senior district ******rs were also present.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that medical was a sacred profession. He said some doctors preferred their private practice during official duty hours which was a matter of concern. He said that during private practice, the attitude of doctors entirely changed with their patients.
He said that prescription of medicines from market should be discouraged. Kh Salman Rafiq expressed his concern over the unavailability of senior doctors in OPDs. He said that senior doctors should examine patients. He directed that inventory of **n-functional medical equipment should be prepared so that repairable equipment could be made operational.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that proper diag**sis and case history of patients would be helpful to treat the patients of viral diseases like Congo and dengue. He said that by implementing the standard operating procedure, the lives of such patients could be saved. He said that besides providing treatment to the patients, doctors should also create awareness among the people regarding the preventive measures. He directed that ******rs of Health Department and the hospital administration should remain alert in the wake of possible flood in the southern districts of Punjab.
Health Special Secretary Dr Sajid Mehmood Chohan said the government had provided huge funds in the health budget and efficient use of these funds could easily provide best solution to the health problems of the people. He regretted the increase in parking fee in the hospitals. He said that a lot of health facilities were available in public sector hospitals but people were **t fully aware of it. He directed that signboards be placed at different places in the hospitals for the proper guidance of the patients. He directed that cleanliness and hygiene condition must be improved in the hospitals and bed sheets should be changed on daily basis.
He directed the MSs to ensure functioning of all the air-conditioners installed in wards. Multan DCO Nadar Chattah said that inspection committees had been constituted for surprise visits to the hospitals. He said that things were improving in the hospitals with new initiatives, and more patients were visiting the public sector hospitals. Later, the meeting offered Fateha for the martyrs of Quetta tragedy.
Kh Salman Rafiq and the health special secretary also visited the newly-built burn unit in Nishtar Hospital, Multan.
UET: The 34th meeting of University of Engineering & Tech**logy (UET) Senate was held here on Tuesday.
According to a press release, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid presided over the meeting in which various academic and administrative items of agenda were discussed. The VC briefed the audience about development, progress, research and different projects. UET Registrar Muhammad Asif gave presentation on university budget for 2016-17.
The meeting also expressed grief and sorrow over the terrorism incident in Quetta and offered Fateha for martyrs and prayed for the early recovery of the injured. They also expressed sympathy with the affected families.
Meanwhile, All Lahore Independence Day Quiz Competition 2016 was also held at the university. Government College University team stood first while Punjab University got second position.
