Landowner sets dog on field worker

MULTAN: A landowner set his dog on an anti-dengue field worker after she found a dengue larva in his house in Cantonment area on Thursday.

The team comprising Nadia and Kausar visited the house of a landowner and found dengue larva there. To it, the landowner started abusing Nadia and set his dog on her. The dog repeatedly bit Nadia. As a result, she was injured. The other field worker, Kausar, tried to escape from the scene but she fell on the ground and received injuries. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital. Meanwhile, City Police ******r Azhar Ikram took **tice of the inciden and sent Cantonment police to the spot, which arrested the accused landowner.





Road to be named after Edhi in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The Madina Town TMA has proposed to pay tribute to **ted social worker Abdus Sattar Edhi by renaming a road and a flyover after his name. According to the Regulations town ******r, State Bank Road from Hilal-e-Ahmar Chowk to GTS Chowk and newly-constructed Jhal Khanuana flyover will be named as Abdul Sattar Edhi Road and Abdul Sattar Edhi flyover. The town ******r has invited objections or positive suggestions regarding the proposal.



FDA cancels 336 plots of housing scheme

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Planning-II town director has cancelled about 336 plots in C Block of City Housing Scheme, Sargodha Road, as they fall in prohibited zone of the National Highways and Strategic Roads (Control) 1998 as amended in 2002. According to him, the housing developer has **t obtained permission from the departments concerned. He advised the general public **t to purchase the plots in their own interest. He warned that in case of any construction, it would be immediately demolished and cost of the exercise would also be charged from the plot owner.



Human smuggler arrested

LAHORE: FIA immigration officials at Allama Iqbal Airport Thursday intercepted a human smuggler when his name hit the black list category and he was a proclaimed offender in five different cases.According to the FIA officials, the PO was identified as Qasim Raza, son of Liaqat Hayat of Chak 15/NB Liaqatabad, District Sargodha.



GST on POL products challenged

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday sought reply from the federal government, Federal Board of Revenue and Ogra on a petition challenging imposition of 17 per cent general sales tax (GST) on petroleum products.The court ordered the three respondents to submit their replies till August 31.The petitioner counsel argued that the government through a **tification on December 30, 2014 enhanced tax on petroleum products by 17 per cent, which according the petitioner, was totally unconstitutional and illegal. He stated that present increase in GST on petroleum products was violation of the Supreme Court rulings. He requested the court to set side government order as it would be an eco**mic and financial blow to the common citizens.He requested to declare the increase as illegal and unconstitutional.



FIA nabs fugitive

LAHORE: FIA investigators arrested a proclaimed offender and ‘front man’ of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) former Chairman Asif Hashmi in Lahore on Thursday.According to FIA sources, the arrested man, Muhammad Faizan Shams, was a PO in FIR 124/13 of FIA Lahore.
They said Shams had been fugitive for the last three years. They claimed that the accused, a former investment management ******r at ETPB, was the front man of Hashmi and was involved in alleged illegal investment of ETPB in various projects. He was also accused of destroying investment record of the board during the period of Hashmi. NAB, Lahore, is also investigating the cases involving Hashmi, Shams and other ETPB officials for alleged irregularities in recruitment and investments.
