Fugitive German cow captured after a month of sweet freedom

Some birds aren't meant to be caged — their feathers are just too bright. The same goes for cows.
In early July, a brown cow named Johanna reportedly escaped from a slaughterhouse in Kaiserslautern (http://www.swr.de/landesschau-aktuell/rp/kaiserslautern/kuh-johanna-in-kaiserslautern-eingefangen/-/id=1632/did=17887350/nid=1632/12pezdz/), a city in southwest Germany. Between Johanna's date of escape and Aug. 2, the fugitive bovine led authorities on a wild cow chase for approximately four weeks.

Falling just shy of two years old, Johanna was certainly young for a runaway, but her authority-dodging methods were that of a much wiser, more experienced criminal cow.
According to SWR (http://www.swr.de/landesschau-aktuell/rp/kaiserslautern/kuh-johanna-in-kaiserslautern-eingefangen/-/id=1632/did=17887350/nid=1632/12pezdz/), German police used helicopters to find Johanna on multiple occasions, but the cow continuously escaped into wooded areas. At one point, a bounty of €2,800 (about $3,100) was placed on Johanna's safe return, but the bounty was quickly revoked due to concerns for the safety of those attempting to capture her. Read more...
