Jake Owen originally had a different kind of American Love in mind.*
After he and his wife divorced after three years and his father was diag**sed with cancer, the Florida-born country singer k**wn for cheery tracks like "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "Beachin'" found himself putting together a far more introspective thing.*
"I found myself on a much more somber **te, on the sadder side of things," he told Mashable of the original batch of songs he crafted for his followup to 2013's Days of Gold.*
But listening to American Love in its final form is anything but sad.
