ABBOTTABAD: The doctors on Wednesday ended strike against the biometric system in Ayub Medical College Abbottabad after a meeting with chairman Board of Gover**rs (BoG).
The strike led by Dr Salma Kundi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Member National Assembly Dr Azhar Jadoon and others, was later joined by doctors of Ayub Teaching Hospital. The protesters displayed posters demanding salary package an**unced under the Medical Teaching Institutes Reforms Act.
Chairman BoG Javed Panni visited Ayub Medical College and met the delegation of protesters to discuss the situation. Dr Salma Kundi, Dr Iftikhar, Dr Ashfaq, Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) President Dr Amin, General Secretary Dr Zaheer Abbas and others attended the meeting.
Sources in the AMC said the BoG chairman told the doctors that the decision of placing biometric system in the institution was made by the Board of Gover**rs on the direction of the provincial government. He asked them to call off the strike and assured them to discuss the issue in coming BoG meeting.
PDA General Secretary Dr Zaheer Abbas confirmed that the association had suspended the strike till the BoG meeting scheduled to be held in next week.
