Relievant Medsystems obtained FDA clearance for its INTRACEPT intraosseous nerve ablation system. It’s a minimally invasive device that’s used to kill the*basivertebral nerve responsible for generating regular pain signals in people with damaged vertebra in the lower back.

The tech**logy is indicated for treating one or more levels between L3 and S1 in people that have **t responded to more common treatments*for over six months. Being a minimally invasive procedure, the tip of the device is delivered through a bore hole into the vertebral body of the spine where it is then used to beam*RF energy, ablating the basivertebral nerve. This should prevent pain signals from moving up to the brain, potentially killing the pain entirely.
