MINGORA: Four cops were injured when gunmen opened fire on a police patrolling van in Matta tehsil, officials said on Wednesday.
They said that a police mobile van was returning to the police station from Bahrain when gunmen opened fire on it in Kalakot Chatrai Cheena in Swat’s Matta tehsil.
“Four cops identified as Sultan Shah, Habibur Rehman, Jamilur Rehman and Umara Khan sustained injuries in the attack,” an official said. The injured were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Matta town.
DIG, Malakand Range, Akhtar Hayat Khan said that a police mobile vehicle was on its way when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the police party near Chena Kalakot. As a result, four cops sustained mi**r injuries.
He said that following the incident, the police launched a search operation in the area and arrested several suspects. The police also recovered a hand-grenade and ******* from their possession, he added.
