ISLAMABAD: A black day was observed across the country on Wednesday to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren and protest against grave human rights violations by state forces in Indian held Kashmir (IHK).
The federal government had directed ministries, divisions and provincial governments to observe the day and express solidarity with the Kashmiris.Rallies and functions were arranged all over the country, Azad Kashmir and in the occupied valley to draw attention of the world community towards the burning issue of Kashmir. All officials of the federal and provincial governments put on black armbands during routine official work to de**unce the Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and express solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren.
Special prayers were also held after the Zuhr prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir. Pakistani missions abroad sensitised the local media as well as various caucuses in different regions on the Kashmir issue.
In big cities, banners were displayed at conspicuous places inscribed with slogans in favour of the Kashmiris’ social, academic and **n-governmental organisations observed this day to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people in Occupied Kashmir.
President Mam**on Hussain observed Black Day against Indian oppression in Kashmir and tied a black band on his arm in protest. The staff of Aiwan-e-Sadr also wore black bands around their arms symbolising protest against the atrocities of Indian security forces in Occupied Kashmir.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his message pledged to continue extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination.
In a message, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq urged international community to play role in stopping Indian atrocities against in**cent Kashmiris. The speaker asked international community to play its due role in resolving the issue of Kashmir as per commitments of India.
The PML-N Islamabad chapter organised a protest rally in front of the National Press Club to condemn Kashmiris’ carnage at the hands of Indian army in Occupied Kashmir.
The rally was led by Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Dr Asif Kirmani and Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
Participants of the rally were carrying placards inscribed with anti-India and pro-freedom slogans and they also chanted slogans condemning Indian state terrorism in Kashmir.
Addressing the rally, Pervaiz Rashid said the black day was being observed on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to condemn and highlight the ge**cide of Kashmiris at the hands of Indian occupation forces deployed in Kashmir. He said that Kashmiris have been facing Indian excesses for several decades but recently a new wave of Indian atrocities has martyred countless youth only because they were demanding their right to self-determination as promised by the United Nations.
He said that the martyred Kashmiris had **t committed any crime and what they were demanding was right to self will either through their writings or through their voice. The minister said that India claims to be the largest democracy in the world but voice of in**cent Kashmiris was being curbed in this democracy.
Pervaiz said Pakistani masses stand by their Kashmiri brethren and moral, political and diplomatic support for the just Kashmir cause will continue till liberation of Kashmir from Indian clutches. He said the United Nations had promised that Kashmiris were free to make decision about their destiny and Pakistan will support them till realisation of that goal.
Asif Kirmani said dozens of Kashmiris have been martyred and hundreds injured during last few days which shows that India was trying to crush the freedom struggle through the barrel of gun but it can**t do so.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the world community should take **tice of the Kashmir situation and world media should highlight the plight of Kashmiris so that India realize that it has usurped Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He said the PML-N government will continue to raise the issue at all international forums.
Meanwhile, clashes between the protesters and Indian troops continued in different parts of the occupied valley on Wednesday in which several people sustained injuries.
At least 45 in**cent Kashmiris have been killed so far and hundreds others injured after protests broke out on the killing of young independence leader Burhan Wani.
The Pakistan People's Party observed black day to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir against the on-going Indian oppression in the valley.
In a statement, the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that party **t only values the Kashmir cause, but it is also a part of the struggle for the freedom and would continue to struggle like martyred leaders unless the goal is achieved.
Bilawal wore the black armband to observe the black day in protest against the Indian oppression in the valley. He criticised the PML-N government over the an**uncement to observe July 19 as black day which is actually marked as a day of celebrations by the Kashmiris on both sides of the border.
Bilawal said that the government of Pakistan is in a state of bewilderment under the pressure mounting because of Azad Kashmir elections as well as PanamaLeaks scandal. Out of confusion, he said, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is making illogical decisions. He said the government first an**unced 19 July as black day and then postponed it to the other day due to the mounting pressure by the PPP and the people of Kashmir.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seems to be unaware of the historically significant day and his unaware political aides have caused further embarrassment to the prime minister, giving out an impression that heis ig**rant about the history of his own country,” he said. – Agencies
Muhammad Anis adds: Central ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq said the pro-India lobbies active in Pakistan were trying to cause harm to struggle of Kashmiris for their right of self-determination.
“Some lobbies in Pakistan have been serving interests of India instead safeguarding interests of Pakistan and Kashmir cause,” Sirajul Haq said while addressing participants of ‘Kashmir Karwan’ here at Aabpara Chowk. The rally was organised to express solidarity with Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.
A large number of people participated in the two-day ‘Kashmir Karwan’ which started from Lahore and ended in Islamabad to express solidarity with people of Occupied Kashmir. The Kashmiri leadership and other leaders of JI and Jamaatud Daawa also participated in the rally.
Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and senior Kashmiri leader Syed Salahuddin also addressed participants of the Kashmir Karwan. They pledged to continue to extend support to struggle of Kashmiris saying that the blood Muzaffar Wani would **t be wasted.
The JI leader maintained that such a government in Pakistan which was developing friendship with India to serve trade interests and had forgotten blood of Kashmiris was **t acceptable to them.
Siraj said that the Pakistanis wanted to give a message to Syed Ali Gilani, Mir Waiz Umar Farooq, Yaseen Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other Kashmiri leaders and people that the citizens of Pakistan were behind them in their struggle for freedom from India. “We want to assure them that the Pakistanis will continue to support them till they achieve their goal,” he said.
“Those lobbies in Pakistan which hate Jehadi culture should leave Pakistan and better move to India,” he said. He demanded of the United Nations to come into action to implement its resolutions on Kashmir. “Why the United Nations is silent over plight of Kashmiris, whereas it acted in case of East Taimur and South Sudan,” he said.
