KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party leader Anees Qaimkhani filed a bail petition at the Sindh High Court on Wednesday.
PSP leader Anees Qaimkhani was arrested on Tuesday after his bail was dismissed by an Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi. He was taken into custody along with MQM leaders Rauf Siddiqui and Waseem Akhtar as well as PPP's Abdul Qadir Patel.
Anees Qaimkhani stated in the petition that his name had **t been mentioned directly in Dr Asim's Joint Investigation Report (JIT). It was also stated in the application that the witnesses which have been mentioned in the ATC's decisions are linked to gang-war in Karachi. He said that the ATC's decision had also overlooked many important evidences with regard to the case.
It was also written in the application that a JIT could **t be considered as an accepted testimony in a court of law.
Rauf Siddiqui, Waseem Akhtar, Abdul Qadir Patel and Anees Qaimkhani are considered suspects in Dr Asim case, in which the former petroleum minister is accused of providing medical treatment to militants and terrorists.
PSP leader Syed Mustafa Kamal had held a press conference on Tuesday and urged his supporters throughout Pakistan to remain calm and **t cause agitation. Kamal had stated that PSP would legally pursue Anees Qaimkhani's release.
