HELD SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the imposed curfew and other restrictions continued on the ninth consecutive day to prevent the people from protesting against the killings by Indian forces.
Internet and mobile service remained suspended and, therefore, the actual situation on ground could **t be properly verified. More troops have been deployed across the valley and roads blocked by using barricades and concertina wire.
Power supply has been suspended in many parts of Held Kashmir, with locals terming it as a deliberate move to suppress the anti-India anger ignited by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
People are facing an acute shortage of essential items and have complained that they are **t even allowed to move out of their homes to arrange food and medicines.However, people defying curfew came out of their houses in parts of Sopore, Kupwara and Handwara and protests. The protesters at Hatmulla attacked a police post while set on fire a police guard room at Wullar Vintage Park in Bandipora.
On the other hand, APHC leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik appealed to the people to remain steadfast with patience, unity and discipline and do **t pay any heed to rumours aimed at harming the ongoing resistance movement.
The appeal was made through a joint poster message which reads: “People k**w how in**cent Kashmiris that include youth, children and aged are being killed, media gagged, internet and cellular service and newspapers banned.”
“To break the resolve of the people, anti-movement elements can upload videos, attempt rumour-mongering and try to create a wedge between people and pro-freedom leadership. New Delhi rulers have in advance mobilised their agents in Kashmir for the same and will try to break the people’s resolve,” reads the poster.The APHC leadership has also appealed imams to spread their message in all mosques.
