Abolition of levy
MANSEHRA: The opposition and treasury benches in tehsil council of Oghi on Friday an**unced to move court against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s decision of abolishing levy on transportation of minerals out of the tehsil.
The provincial government issued a **tification abolishing the levy on transportation of minerals and white stones imposed by the tehsil government of Oghi last month.
“We are united as levy on transportation of minerals was imposed on recommendations of a resolution passed by the council.
“The KP government has ** right to abolish a tax which is imposed by council for the welfare of its people,” Raja Bashir, tehsil Nazim, told the council which met with its convener Zahidullah Shah on Friday.
The **tification issued by the provincial government said that “Under Section 42(5)
of Local government Act 2013 the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is pleased to
abolish the tax imposed on black mine stones and white mine stones by TMA Oghi.”
Raja Bashir said that if the government wanted to abolish the levy imposed on transportation of minerals, then it should an**unce Tehsil’s share in royalty accumulated by the government through various taxes on mining.Speaking on the occasion, opposition leader Nawabzada Fareed of the PTI said that they would challenge the government’s decision in court.
