Since Josh Ridge, a Melbourne-based photographer, began capturing the beauty of benches, his Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/park_benches/) — which consists ofmore than 1,350 photos —has become a haven for people who appreciate the hidden beauties that lie in simplistic scenery.

Mashable spoke with Ridge via email to learn more about how his unique niche was developed.
Surprisingly, Ridge shared that his inspiration to photograph benches "all started with a health kick." After he quit smoking three years ago, he borrowed a friend's bike and "started adventuring around the many bike paths of Melbourne." Read more...
