OCCUPIED KASHMIR: Tensions continued to persist in the region as the protest entered one week after the killing of freedom fighter Burhan Wani last Saturday.

The Indian government has imposed curfew in some areas of occupied Kashmir in order to deter the citizens from protesting against them. The killing of Burhan Wani sparked protests in which 40 Kashmiris were martyred and as many as three thousand were injured.

A complete strike was observed today in Kashmir with businesses, transport and communication remaining suspended in the region.

The Indian government has banned mobile and internet services in Kashmir Valley since the protest movement has been gaining popularity, a great deal of it due to social media.

Police have also locked up senior members of the Hurriyat in order to deter them from leading Kashmiris into protests against the government.

On the other hand, the Indian army has injured scores of Kashmiri protesters who have been brought into hospitals, injured from shrapnel. Among the injured are 125 such victims whose eyes have been severely damaged due to the Indian shelling.

Pakistan has decided to mark July 19 as a Black Day in protest against Indian atrocities in Kashmir and to demonstrate solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir.
