Islamabad: All recommendations of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Polio Eradication have been incorporated in new National Emergency Action Plan for Polio 2016/17, minister for health Saira Afzal Tarar was told during a polio review meeting here Thursday.
The meeting was attended by secretary health and national coordinator of the Polio Emergency Operation Centre Dr Rana Safdar, among other relevant officials.Expressing her views, Saira said, the polio programme has **t only maintained focus on the 11 districts of tier 1 but has also chalked out an enhanced monitoring plan for tier II districts. She said, the programme is **w all set to enhance the scope of community-based vaccination. She said, mobile team performance is being strengthened and surveillance strengthening plan is in place for implementation.
Saira called for regular sharing of information on population movement with the Afghanistan programme for joint risk assessment and response to any cases and outbreaks in common reservoirs on either side. To strengthen routine immunisation in the country, enhancement of PEI-EPI partnership to support routine immunization operations with active engagement with EPI and partners was highlighted.
