Retired teacher shot dead

JHANG: A retired teacher was shot dead by an unidentified man here on Thursday morning. Muhammad Ramzan was sleeping in his house at Kot Dewan village on Jhang-Shorkot Road when an unidentified man entered and shot him dead. The body was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy. Police have started investigation.

PAC to discuss tax deduction on mobile cards today

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will meet today (Friday) to take up the issue of deduction of various taxes on mobile cards by the telecom companies.Chairman Federal Bureau of Revenue, chairman Nadra and chairman Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) will brief the committee.Chairman PAC Syed Khursheed Shah will chair the meeting that will take up the issue of deduction of various taxes on mobile cards and devise a mechanism to monitor the deduction deposited in the national exchequer last month.The Federal Bureau of Revenue would also brief the committee on evaluation of property tax.
Chitral flood: Three more bodies recovered
CHITRAL: According to the flood control room at the deputy commissioner’s ******, three more bodies of the July 2 flood in Ursun were recovered from the Chitral river inside the Afghan district of Narrey here on Thursday. The bodies were identified as that of Muhsina, d/o Tahir, Imranuddin, s/o Usman, and mi**r son of Obaidur Rehman, resident of Chitral. The bodies were handed over to Pakistani authorities at the Pak-Afghan border Arandu which were shifted to Ursun and buried there. It may be **ted that bodies of 29 people killed in the floods had already been recovered while seven are still missing, confirmed an official of the flood control room.
Registration of displaced Mehsud tribesmen begins

TANK: The third phase of registration of the internally displaced families of the Mahsud tribe for sending them to their hometowns in South Waziristan Agency started here on Thursday. Assistant Political ******r Muhammad Shoaib told reporters that the third phase of return process of displaced persons to 65 villages of South Wazirisitan Agency would start by July 20. The official said that 22,000 registered and 22,000 **n-registered displaced families belonging to the Mahsud tribe had returned home so far. “The families will leave for hometowns from Khigi Transit Camp under the supervision of Pakistan Army,’’ he said. He added that all the civic facilities had already been restored in those areas. “Millions of rupees were being spent on the rehabilitation of water supply schemes, roads infrastructure and improvement of other civic facilities for the people who rendered sacrifices for a great national cause,” he disclosed.

LANDIKOTAL: Khyber Khassadar and Levies personnel have arrested four persons and recovered contrabands worth millions of rupees during raids in the Wazir Dhand area of Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency, a senior official said on Thursday. Political Agent Khalid Mehmood told The News that they had received information that some people had established dens where they were selling different kinds of *****. He said a squad raided several compounds in Wazir Dhand near Karkha** Market in Peshawar. He said 120 drug addicts and four drug dealers were arrested. Four Kalashnikovs, magazines and hundreds of bullets and chemicals used in narcotics manufacturing were also recovered from the possession of accused. The accused were shifted to the Jamrud lockup. The political agent said that a **tice was issued to tehsildar Jamrud while responsible Khassadar and Levies officials had been suspended.

The officials of the Cantonment Board led by Executive ******r Muhammad Saleem launched an anti-encroachment campaign and bulldozed 63 illegal cabins in the **wshera Cantonment. Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Saleem said that 63 illegal cabins had been demolished during the campaign. Owners of the cabins had been issued **tices time and again to remove the encroachments but to ** avail, he said, adding that these cabins were constructed illegally and without the permission of the Cantonment Board.
60 illegal clinics, labs sealed in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Officials of the KP Health Regulatory Authority (HRA) said on Thursday that they had sealed 60 outlets including clinics, laboratories and dispensaries in the district run by quacks and individuals without having licences. Javed Akhtar and Sajjad Ali Shah, officials of the HRA, told journalists that they moved against the quacks on the clear directives received from the provincial government. They maintained that cases had also been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the law.
