Judges also express serious concern over safety and security of their families
KARACHI: Judges of the Sindh High Court on Thursday resolved that the president and the prime minister should use their good ******s to ensure the safe recovery of Owais Ali Shah, the son of the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court.
The resolution came at a meeting of the SHC judges to review the situation after the kidnapping of the Chief Justice’s son, Owais Ali Shah, who was kidnapped by unidentified people on June 20.
Sources privy to affairs of the judiciary said that the judges of the SHC in Karachi convened a meeting to review the issue of the Chief Justice’s son’s kidnapping.The judges expressed their grave concern over the fact that though 24 days had passed, the law-enforcement agencies had failed to recover Owais Shah.
They were of the view that the abduction of the Chief Justice’s son was against the independence of the judiciary and observed that the judges and their family members stood exposed to face any ugly situation like the one at hand which might hamper dispensation of justice and may create a sense of insecurity among all the people of the country.
The judges, sources said, also expressed their serious concern over the safety and security of their families and observed that ** useful steps had been taken so far to enhance their security by the quarters concerned.
The judges, nevertheless, expressed their commitment to dispensation of justice without any fear or favour. They vowed that they would continue to discharge their duties in accordance with the mandate of the Constitution.
The legal fraternity also protested over the kidnapping of Barrister Owais Shah and warned that they would take to the streets if the abducted son of the chief justice of the Sindh High Court was **t safely recovered within the shortest-possible time.The lawyers also boycotted the court proceedings.
