Orange Train project
LAHORE: Steering Committee on Orange Train Project Chairman Khwaja Ahmed Hassan has expressed his displeasure over delay in filling of trenches which were dug up on Raiwind Road for the construction of pillars and platforms for the orange train project.
He also expressed anger over the slow pace of work and said that the government would take strict action against the contractors if they failed in completing their assigned project targets on time.
He said this while chairing the monthly meeting of the steering committee held here on Wednesday. LDA senior officials, project contractors and other officials concerned were also present.
Khwaja Ahmed Hassan directed the LDA authorities to fill all the trenches within the next seven days and extra labour force should be used for this purpose. He said the cost of extra labour force should be deducted from the bill of the contractor of package-II and ** compromise should be made in this regard.
Earlier, the meeting was informed that 37 percent construction work on the orange train project had been completed.The chairman directed the traffic police authorities to depute extra traffic wardens along the orange train project site to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He also directed them to provide umbrellas to the wardens so that they could perform their duties in rain too.
The chairman asked all the government departments, consultants and project contractors to coordinate with each other to achieve the goals. During the meeting, chinese engineers and project consultants also proposed several measures to streamline the project work.
