Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is functioning without any managing director for more than three months as a result of which the ****** affairs related to staff remain pending and unresolved.
Almost every staff member of lower to upper scale agreed to the fact that since the contract period of Syed Kabir Ali Wasti as managing director expired on April 06 this year, the PTDC is being run without any MD. Former managing director Syed Kabir Wasti, through effective measures, was improving the financial condition of the PTDC, which also include payment of outstanding salaries to the staff members from 20 months dues to only nine months and promotion of tourist activities in the country. However, **w since his departure in April this year, the affairs of PTDC and its staff remain unattended as there is ** superior authority anymore to take decisions.
Talking to ‘The News’ here on Tuesday, the staff of all cadres feared that the financial position of PTDC could deteriorate in the absence of managing director. Union members of PTDC including Ramzan, Waqar also expressed concern over the absence of the managing director which otherwise is necessary in an organization to run the affairs. They demanded of the federal government to take **tice of the matter and issue immediate orders to appoint the managing director in PTDC so that the matters related to ****** and its staff could run smoothly. When approached, Media Manager, Mukhtar Ahmed agreed to the fact that the absence of managing director could affect the working of the department largely.
However, he said that the board meeting was to be held on Monday for **mination of new managing director which was postponed due to certain reasons. In the next Board meeting, the decision to appoint a new MD would be taken, Mukhtar said.
Similarly, he informed that with the allocation of special grant by cabinet in June this year, the PTDC has paid outstanding salaries to their staff, which has come down from 20 months’ emoluments to only nine months **w. “The cabinet had allocated a special grant of Rs120 million to the PTDC for clearance of dues to the staff and other liabilities,” Mukhtar added.
