ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a bail plea filed by an accused who was arrested for selling land to the Peshawar Development Authority on double rates. The court remarked that the accused was bound to return the amount which he received through cheques. The division bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the case filed by Abdul Hashim and dismissed the plea. During the course of proceedings, Special Prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) apprised the court that the accused had sold his inherited land to the Peshawar Development Authority and received double price. He said the NAB arrested the accused for taking the extra amount. Aftab Khan, counsel for the accused, informed the court his client was in NAB’s custody for last 10 months. He said that his client did **t receive the total amount of the land. He pleaded the court to accept his client’s bail plea. Later, the court directed to receive the extra amount from the accused and other members of his family and dismissed his bail plea.
