MANSEHRA: The police were facing difficulties in managing traffic in Mansehra as a large number of tourists flocked to the hill station during Eidul Fitr holidays.

The roads remained clogged with traffic while the police could **t manage to keep the flow of traffic due to the entry of large number of vehicles and landsliding at various places in Kaghan.

“We were ready to cope with a difficult situation as we were expecting a record number of tourists to Kaghan valley but over 100,000 vehicles had entered into Mansehra on the third day of Eid,” Jamal Zeb, the traffic in-charge, told reporters on Tuesday. Tourists continue to visit the scenic Kaghan valley and other tourist resorts in the district which lead to traffic jams for several hours on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Abbottabad to Mansehra and Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road.

The official said though the traffic police tried to keep the flow of traffic on the KKH, the frequent landslide in Balakot-Naran section of Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road disturbed the traffic.Naeem Khan, a tourist from Lahore, told reporters that he and his family enjoyed scenic Kaghan valley but road leading to the valley from Balakot was in dilapidated condition.

Salma Sarfaraz, a woman tourist hailing from Rawalpindi, said that she was impressed by the natural beauty of Kaghan valley but added that the road condition was a discouragement.“There was a massive rush in Naran and traffic at Naran-Saiful Muluk road remained blocked most of time but even then we enjoyed visiting the valley,” she said.
