Five cops, child injured in roadside blast

MINGORA: Five cops and a child sustained injuries in a roadside blast in Bahrain area of Swat district on Tuesday. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Azad Khan said that the police party was on a routine patrol when it was targetted with a remote-control bomb in Mankyal area in Bahrain.

Gover**r visits Khyber Agency hospitals

BARA: Gover**r Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Tuesday visited Bara and Jamrud tehsils in Khyber Agency to see the condition of the hospitals.Additional Chief Secretary Fata Muhammad Aslam Kombah, Secretary Social Sector Department Fata Waqarul Hassan and Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Mahmood accompanied the gover**r. The gover**r first visited the Bara Dogra Hospital and inspected its various departments including Emergency Ward, Out-Patients Department and dispensary. Agency surgeon and medical superintendent briefed the gover**r about the working of the hospital.



Political parties reject extension of Customs Act to Malakand

CHAKDARA: A conference of the representatives of all political parties in Makaland division on Tuesday rejected the extension of the Customs Act to the Malakand division. The Awami National Party had convened the conference at Chakadara. It was attended by leader of Pakistan People’s Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Qaumi Watan Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and traders. The participants of the conference suggested taking up the issue with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and federal government.



Man kills three in **wshera

**WSHERA: A man killed his mother, step-father and a cousin in Suri Baba area, police officials said on Tuesday.The aunt of the accused was also injured in the firing.The injured woman and wife of Israr Khan told the police that her nephew Taimour Khan had invited her, his step-father, mother and a cousin to his house in Kheshgi area for lunch.She said that the accused and his accomplices fired at them on their return in Suri Baba area in Rashakai.



Councillor attempts suicide in protest

GUJRANWALA: A PTI councillor attempted suicide in protest against the Punjab government for **t empowering the LG representatives here on Tuesday. Liaqat Ali, a councillor from Nadala Sandwan, climbed up on an electric pole and chanted slogans against the government for **t giving them powers to resolve problems of their areas. —Correspondent



ECP reviews arrangements on revision of electoral rolls

ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements regarding revision of electoral rolls scheduled to be commenced in August 2016 throughout the country. The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan at the ECP Secretariat. During the meeting, the secretary issued directions to all relevant wings to ensure completion of all prerequisites, including appointment of Verifying Officials, procurement of stationery items, printing of forms and all other administrative arrangements so that the revision exercise was started as per schedule. In this regard, the secretary Election Commission will also hold a meeting with the Provincial Election Commissioners on July 15 to review arrangements made by them in respect of their respective provinces.



Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan takes

charge as Commander Logistics PN

KARACHI: Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan has taken over the Logistic Command of Pakistan Navy in an impressive change of command ceremony held at the PN dockyard. He took over the command from Rear Admiral Imdad Imam Jafri, said a statement issued here on Tuesday. Rear Admiral Sajid Qazir Khan would **w be incharge of logistic support to all PN units, ships and establishments. He would also be looking after all PN stores and ammunition depots and would also be responsible for all logistic support to construction units and repair maintenance facilities of Pakistan Navy. A guard of ho**r was also presented to the newly appointed commander logistics during the ceremony. Later, commanding ******rs of the units under command were also introduced to commander logistics. The ceremony was attended by a large number of ******rs, civilians and sailors of Pakistan Navy.



UET hostel named after Edhi

LAHORE: University of Engineering & Tech**logy (UET) named the newly-built boys hostel as Abdul Sattar Edhi Hall as a tribute to the late Abdul Sattar Edhi, the great social worker. A resolution in this regard was unanimously passed by all deans and heads of teaching and **n-teaching departments of the university and vice chancellor at a meeting on Tuesday.

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Tuesday arranged an Eid Milan Party in ho**ur of ministerial staff of Capital Police ******r (CPO).A handout said that Additional IGP Headquarters, Special Branch, Elite Fore, Operations, FRP, CCPO Peshawar, DIGs Inquiry & Inspection, Headquarters, Investigation, Training and ministerial staff of various units particularly class-IV employees attended the party. Special prayers were offered for prominent philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi and police martyrs. IGP Nasir Khan Durrani paid glowing tributes to Abdus Sattar Edhi for the services he had rendered. The IGP added that the iconic social worker had devoted himself to the cause of humanity and selflessly served the humanity. He urged the cops to follow in the footsteps of Abdus Sattar Edhi and adopt simplicity. Nasir Durrani said the KP Police had become a role model for the police of other provinces due to its sacrifices.



Boating in Rawal Lake banned for two months

Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has imposed ban on boating in Rawal Lake and ordered for removing boats from the lake within a week.Ban has been slapped owing to drowning of one woman in the lake following capsizing of boat therein on the eve of Eidul Fitr.CDA Member Environment Sana Ullah Aman said that CDA has taken **tice of loss of life due to capsizing of boat in Rawal Lake and boating therein without taking precautionary measures. Therefore ban has been imposed on boating of every kind in the lake.Directives have been issued to respective department in this regard. Action will be taken against the persons found involved in boating without life jacket and the staff members who have shown negligence in ensuring safety arrangements.



JI to hold protest on July 15 against Kashmiris’ killings

ISLAMABAD: On an appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq, a protest day would be observed on July 15 (Friday) all over the country against the martyrdom of Kashmiri leader Muzaffar Wani and over 30 other Kashmiris in the Occupied Kashmir by the Indian troops during the last few days. JI Central Naib Ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam will lead a protest in front of the National Press Club, Islamabad, on Friday at 5pm.



PU college auditorium to be named after Edhi

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, a ceremony would be held soon to pay tribute to the unmatched services of Abdus Sattar Edhi to the humanity.



Five injured in Swat IED blast

SWAT: At least five persons, including four policemen, sustained injuries when their mobile van was targeted with a remote controlled improvised explosive device (IED) in Behran area on Tuesday. According to police, the mobile of Behran police was on routine patrolling when in the Mankyal area it was attacked by unk**wn miscreants with a remote controlled device planted on the roadside. As a result of the blast, four policemen and a child sustained injuries and were shifted to a Madain hospital. The police van was partially damaged.



Arms, ammunition seized in Quetta

QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) foiled a sabotage bid and recovered a large numbers of arms and ammunition from the Tuba Achakzai area of Killa Abdullah district on Tuesday. According to LEAs spokesman, acting on a tip off, LEAs personnel carried out a search operation in the area and seized a large number of arms and ammunition. The arms and ammunition seized include 10 missiles, 43 hand grenades, 36 fuses, 36 rocket launchers and thousands of rounds. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area.



Alert issued by CDA to tackle monsoon

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Administration Tuesday asked departments and agencies concerned to mobilise all possible resources to combat any emergency arising out of Monsoon and possible flooding in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. In an advisory issued on Monday, it says constant vigilance is required to deal with any emergency along the banks of rivers Swan and Korang. Three flood control centres have also been set up at Tarlai, Bharakahu and Sihala.
