Among the new generation of actors currently experimenting with Indian cinema is Momal Sheikh who makes her Bollywood debut with the upcoming film Happy Bhaag Jayegi alongside Abhay Deol and Cocktail star Diana Penty. The posters of the film have started coming out and the much-talked about project is gearing up for release next month, on August 19.
We are just a month away from the film’s release and the creators have started revealing salient details about the characters with back-to-back posters. While the first poster introduced us to the titular character Happy (played by Penty) and the next one presented Bilal Ahmed (played by Deol), the latest one throws some light on the character of Ali Fazal.
“Ali Fazal will once again charm the audiences as the boy next door, reminiscent of his look from the 2013 hit film Fukrey,” reports the Indian Express. “He plays the role of Guddu, a Punjabi boy.” The publication also reported that Fazal is playing Penty’s love interest in the film.
Speaking to Instep, Sheikh, who is said to be playing the role of Zoya (Deol’s fiancée), revealed a bit more about the film and said, “I am playing a Pakistani girl and Abhay is playing a Pakistani guy in the film.” Describing the strategy behind marketing which is all about building suspense, Sheikh **ted, “We’re trying to build up suspense by **t revealing too much about the characters.”
In the film, Abhay Deol and Momal Sheikh play a couple while Diana Penty and Ali Fazal are essaying the second couple in question. Seasoned actor Jimmy Shergill is playing a negative character.
Produced by d by Anand L. Rai and Krishika Lulla, Happy Bhaag Jayegi is a cross-border rom-com based in Amritsar and Lahore and is about a bride who runs away from her house and somehow lands in Pakistan. From there, the story unfolds, shedding light on the events that take place in her life.
