Despite strong rumours that director Ayan Mukherji’s superhero film with Ranbir Kapoor has been shelved, it has **w been confirmed that the film is happening. Tentatively titled Dragon, the film stars Kapoor as the superhero while Alia Bhatt, who is riding high on the success of Udta Punjab, has been roped in as Kapoor’s leading lady in the film.
As per reports, the Tamasha actor always wanted to do a superhero film and Dragon is his chance to take on the superhero mantle. It is said that the title of the film is in line with Kapoor’s superpower.
Dragon is part of a trilogy that is based on myths that are presented with a modern perspective. According to reports, the two actors have already met their martial arts trainer since Kapoor has to be trained for some action sequences in the film.
Reports also suggest that Amitabh Bachchan has been approached for a prominent role in the film. Whether he agrees to do the film or **t remains to be seen.
As for the present, Ranbir Kapoor’s next includes Jagga Jasoos with Anurag Basu and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya-Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan. Meanwhile Alia Bhatt will be seen in Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi next alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistan’s Ali Zafar.
Dragon is in its pre-production stage at present and is expected to go on floors within this year.
