Says chief secretary should evolve a swings installation
system and protective measures; orders chief secretary to take strict action as per law against the responsible



LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that all-out resources have been provided for the provision of quality and modern medical facilities to people and required funds will be made available in future as well.

Fruits of billions of rupees allocated for improvement of health sector and provision of quality healthcare facilities should reach the common man at every cost. Persons associated with health sector will have to fulfill their responsibilities and perform their duties efficiently in this regard, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he was visiting the hospitals to review provision of health facilities and would go to last limit for providing these facilities to common man. He lamented over the incident of a swing collapse and injuring the children in Sahiwal and said that despite **t granting permission by district administration, installation of swings was the negligence and inefficiency of the administration. Contractors will **t be allowed to play with the lives of in**cent children for a few pennies, he added.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting through a video link, here Sunday. The meeting reviewed in detail the inquiry report of the swing collapse and situation of medical facilities at District Headquarters Hospital, Sahiwal. He ordered complete ban on installation of swings throughout the province until evolution of a comprehensive system and said that soon an effective system be devised in this regard. Chief secretary should evolve a system regarding installation of swings and protective arrangements and present the same within next few days, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said that protection of life and property of the people was the government responsibility, which would be fulfilled. Although ** loss of life occurred; however, some children injured which was regrettable, he added. The chief minister ordered immediate suspension of DCO Sahiwal in the light of inquiry report and directed the chief secretary to take strict action as per law against the responsible of negligence. He said that secretary prosecution should directly submit him a report after reviewing progress into the matter. Installation of swings without permission is a question mark on the performance of district administration, he added. He said that had the law been strictly implemented and ******rs of district administration had **t overlooked their responsibilities, this incident would **t have been occurred.

He said that provision of quality and modern health facilities to the people was the government priority and billions of rupees had already been earmarked for this purpose. He said free medicines worth billions of rupees were being provided to the patients at government hospitals every year; there was ** shortage of resources and if field ******rs and authorities concerned work hard the situation of hospitals would be changed. He directed to present immediate plan for repair and maintenance of District Headquarters Hospital, Sahiwal.

He said that all doctors wear proper dress and robe in a civilised society. If the doctors wear robe, the patients will **t face any difficulty in access to the doctors, he added. He said that implementation of enforcement of wearing robe by doctors in the hospitals of the province should be ensured. He said a comprehensive system should be evolved for the appointment of hardworking and intelligent EDOs health and education throughout the province. Acquiring the services of hardworking and capable persons from market for this purpose should be considered, he added. He said that chief secretary and secretary health should present their recommendations while keeping in view all aspects in this regard. He said that cleanliness arrangements in the hospitals should be improved and provision of medical facilities to people ensured at every cost. Doctors should serve the ailing humanity by becoming Masiha in the real sense, he added. He said that hygienic and other arrangements in Sahiwal hospital were worst; therefore, MS had been suspended.

The chief secretary informed that amounts of financial assistance had been paid to the families of the children injured due to falling of a swing in Sahiwal. He said Rs200,000 each had been provided to the families of seriously injured and Rs100,000 each to mi**r injured child.Chairman Inquiry Committee constituted regarding Sahiwal incident, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development presented inquiry report in the meeting.
