KARACHI: An accountability court postponed proceedings of a NAB reference against Dr Asim and others till July 30, on Monday.
According to details, an application was also filed on Monday at the court to allow Dr Asim to be admitted into a hospital for his back surgery.
Dr Asim and other named suspects in both NAB references were presented before the court on Monday. Board of Revenue's section ******r Imaduddin Chachar was supposed to record his statement at the court today in the Rs 462 billion corruption case. Proceedings for the case were postponed till July 26.
During the JJVL NAB reference case, the suspects' attorneys stated that the matter pertaining to their clients' indictment was already being discussed at the hearing of the Sindh High Court. On hearing this, the court postponed further proceedings till July 30.
During an informal chat with journalists, Dr Asim stated that the cases against him were concocted and that some 'big fishes' were behind his cases.
During the proceedings, Dr Asim's application to grant him admission into a hospital for his back surgery was also submitted. In the application, it was stated that Dr Asim was in jail on judicial remand and he was ill, for which he was undergoing treatment at Jinnah hospital.
It was also stated in the application that six medical boards had been constituted for Dr Asim's medical assessment. All six boards had recommended a back surgery, claimed the application. The court postponed the proceedings till July 26 on the request and called for reports from the medical boards.
