ISLAMABAD: World Population Day is observed on July 11 every year to raise awareness of global population issues.
The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.
It was inspired by the public interest in Five Billion Day on July 11, 1987, the date on which the world’s population reached approximately five billion people.
Observing the Day is aimed at highlighting the need is to pay attention towards reproductive health problems of the community people as it is the leading cause of the ill-health as well as deaths of pregnant women worldwide.
Around 800 women reportedly die during delivery process every day.
