DHAKA: Nine Italian and Seven Japanese citizens have been confirmed dead in the by militants in Bangladesh's capital, officials said Saturday.
Seven Japanese citizens have been confirmed dead in the attack by militants in Dhaka, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said.
Earlier, Italy's foreign minister confirmed nine Italians were killed in Friday's attack by militants, with a**ther Italian still unaccounted for.
"We have identified nine (Italians) killed, there is a**ther person who is missing and could be hiding himself or could be among wounded people ... we are looking for him," Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni told reporters.
Militants killed 20 people inside an upmarket restaurant in Dhaka before security forces stormed the building and ended a 12-hour standoff.
