LAHORE: Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM) took out anti-Israel rally in connection with Al-Quds Day at the provincial metropolis here on Friday.

The rally started from Islampura, right behind Punjab Civil Secretariat and culminated at Faisal Chowk near the Punjab Assembly. At Nasser Bagh near the Town Hall, several small rallies from adjoining small towns also joined the main rally. Unlike previous years the rally continued for several hours on The Mall. The rally participants chanted “down with Israel” and “down with the USA” slogans etc and expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and paid tributes to the Palestinian struggle for justice.

Central vice-president ISO Pakistan Sarfraz Naqvi, MWM leaders, including Allama Ameen Shaheedi, Jawad Musavi, Asad Naqvi and others led the rally and also spoke on the occasion. The rally participants also trampled the US and Israeli flags on different places and chanted slogans in favour of Hamas, Hezbollah and people of Palestine.

Addressing the rally, Sarfraz Naqvi said the best solution for the cancerous Israel was its complete elimination. Allama Ameen Shaheedi said Muslim Ummah particularly the Arab countries did **t raise a united voice for the oppressed people of Palestine during the last 68 years. The traffic police had diverted the traffic on The Mall to make smooth way for the rally while heavy contingent of police was also deployed for security of the rally participants.
