ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights on Friday said strict legislation should be introduced to control illegal trade of human organs.
The committee met at the Parliament House with MNA Babar Nawaz Khan in the chair. It discussed steps taken by the Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA) to stop illegal trade of human organs.
The committee members including Tahira Bukhari, Phyllis Azeem, Surraya Asghar, Asiya Naz Ta**li, Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Shazia Sobia, Aliya Kamran Murtaza and Naseema Hafeez Panezai attended the meeting. The committee decided to further discuss the issue in the next meeting. The committee members said strict laws should be introduced about the illegal trade of human organs. They said professional beggary should also be discouraged and children protection centres should be established across the country.
