The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued **tices to secretary and chief conservator of forest, and others on a petition against encroachment of over 10,000 acres of forest land in Larkana and Shikarpur.
Petitioner Mohammad Umar Abro submitted that over 10,000 acres of forest land in Larkana and Shikarpur had been usurped by land grabbers backed by influential tribal heads.
The petitioner’s counsel Afsheen Aman submitted that land grabbers had raised constructions on the land and Larkana district ******r forest had himself admitted to the constructions having been carried out, but the authorities concerned did **t take any action in this regard.
She submitted that forest officials in their comments had also ack**wledged encroaching upon 10,079 acres of the forest land; however, ** action was being taken by the administration to retrieve the forest land from land grabbers.
The court was requested to issue necessary direction to the authorities concerned for protection of the forest land from land grabbers and encroachment.
SC’s two member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed issued **tices to the secretary forest and others and called in their comments.
