Karachi
Pakistan is a great country and holds mighty promise. It could well be the future power house of Asia. Karachi is a great city, alert and vibrant.
This tribute to the country and the city was paid by the outgoing UK deputy high commissioner, John Tuck**tt, at a farewell reception for him held at the UK Deputy High Commission Wednesday evening.
He was all praise for the country and its people and said that he had enjoyed every bit of his stint as the UK’s deputy envoy at Karachi.
The people, he said, were most cooperative and friendly, and never once had he faced any trouble with any quarter.
Tuck**tt said that he was rather sad to be leaving Pakistan but said he was sure that we all would again meet someday.
The reception was very largely attended. His replacement, Belinda Lewis, who has come over as the new incumbent from international hotspots like Iraq and Afghanistan, said that she was really happy to be posted in Pakistan and looked forward to an eventful time here. She said she would do her utmost to further foster friendship and goodwill between the people of the UK and Pakistan.
