A seemingly unremarkable day turned into the worst possible nightmare for a Lyari family on Thursday as their 12-year-old child fell victim to a stray bullet in the southern town’s Baghdadi police limits.
Waris, the victim, had left the house hale and hearty to play with his friends in a neighbourhood ground near Kamala Stop. Though the little one returned within a few hours, the white shroud his lifeless body came wrapped in was a sight one would **t wish for the bitterest of enemies.
According to the police, a stray bullet had struck little Waris right in the head causing his instant death; a death that triggered years of mourning for a family that would **w grieve in silence, with ** hope for justice or closure.
Body found
Yet a**ther dead body – this one also a victim killed execution style – was found dumped in a remote area of the city on Thursday.
Police officials said the corpse was found from a cluster of bushes off the **rthern Bypass, at a location k**wn as ‘O’ Point in Surjani Town.
Sharing details of the victim, an ******r said the man was as yet unidentified but confirmed that his body bore torture marks.
This fact was corroborated by a medico-legal ******r at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, who said the man was subjected to severe torture before being shot once in the head.
The police, as remains the **rm in such cases, were clueless about the case, offering the customary explanation of the victim having been abducted somewhere else and the body being dumped in their jurisdiction.
