CM welcomes investment offer; meets Chinese journalists



LAHORE

A delegation of China Aerospace Construction Corporation called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here on Thursday.

The Chinese company expressed interest in investment in housing, water supply, sanitation and waste water treatment sectors during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that new dimensions of eco**mic relations were promoting between Pakistan and China. China-Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor has created a large scale opportunities of investment for Chinese investors in Pakistan and various Chinese companies are coming to invest in different sectors in Pakistan, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said that cooperation of Chinese company in housing, water supply, sanitation and waste water treatment sectors would be welcomed. He said that facilities were being provided to Chinese companies on priority basis. He said the Punjab government had started a mega project of clean drinking water for the people of the province. He said that under this programme of billions of rupees, supply of potable water to millions of rural people would be ensured during next two years. He said the Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive programme of sanitation and waste water treatment.

Vice-President of Chinese company, Dr Li Naihong said that his company wanted to enhance cooperation with the Punjab government in different sectors, including housing, water supply, sanitation and waste water treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan and China enjoyed everlasting relations of friendship. He also congratulated the Chinese government, leadership, people and journalists on 95th anniversary of Communist Party of China.

The chief minister said the relations between Communist Party of China and Pakistan Muslim League-N were strengthening, adding that China had made rapid progress due to great Chinese leadership. He also said Chinese leadership had implemented its vision and made the country developed and prosperous that was why China became a second eco**mic force of the world.

Shahbaz Sharif said Chinese President Xi Jinping had set a new direction by giving a vision of one ballot one road and this was the vision of development, prosperity, peace, accommodation, tolerance and brotherhood. He said China had made great achievements through unprecedented struggle, which is role model for the entire world. Referring to China-Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC) Shahbaz Sharif said CPEC was a great gift by Chinese leadership and people and exemplary partnership had been made between China and Pakistan through CPEC which was moving forward speedily. He said CPEC would **t only change the course of history of Pakistan but the entire region and generations of Pakistan and China would **t only benefit from CPEC but a huge population of the region would be benefitted. He said due to this splendid investment package, such opportunities would be created as a result of which the new era of progress and prosperity would usher in the region. He said a new history would be written when energy, infrastructure and other projects would be completed under CPEC. He said work was continuing rapidly on energy projects under CPEC throughout the country, including Punjab and these projects would be completed before the stipulated period. He said energy projects would be completed more speedily in Pakistan as compared to China.

Referring to Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project, the chief minister said metro train was a splinted gift for the people of Pakistan by China and China had made the whole investment for this project. He said China had also released second installment of funds for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project. He thanked the Chinese leadership and Exim Bank of China for providing funds for the project despite some problems.

Replying to questions of Chinese journalists, Shahbaz Sharif said the PML-N government was fully aware of the challenges coming in the way of CPEC. He said some opponent elements did **t want completion of CPEC but their designs would never be fulfilled.

The chief minister said the Punjab government had sent first batch of students to China for learning Chinese language and soon a second batch of Pakistani students would visit China for this purpose.

Chinese Consul General Yu Born said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was very sincere and old friend of China and he had played a remarkable role in strengthening Pak-China friendship. He said Shahbaz Sharif was forwarding CPEC project with personal interest and the work was being carried out with extraordinary speed on CPEC projects in Punjab. Hearts of people of both the countries beat together, he said and added goal of China and Pakistan was common.

Chinese journalists congratulated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
