Extraordinary new NASA photos show auroras shining brightly on Jupiter in ultraviolet light, as seen through the Hubble Space Telescope.*

"These auroras are very dramatic and among the most active I have ever seen," said*Jonathan Nichols, who studies these auroras, in a statement (https://www.spacetelescope.org/news/heic1613/).

Like Earth's **rthern and southern lights, Jupiter's auroras are created when charged particles from the sun carried on the solar wind are dragged down into the planet's atmosphere along magnetic field lines.*
