Imtiaz Ali’s last directorial venture, Tamasha, did **t fetch the kind of numbers that make up modern day blockbusters in India. It didn’t make it to the 100 crore club which is sadly the definition of success these days.
Though Tamasha featured the A-list pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, it didn’t receive the usual fanfare of critical acclaim that is associated with Ali’s brand of cinema. However, if you think Tamasha’s lack of success will keep the director from taking on bigger stars and experimenting, think again. His latest of course is a film with Shah Rukh Khan, their first one together. As more days pass, we have learnt a bit more about this collaboration.
For one thing, Anusha Sharma, who is currently making waves as Arifa in Salman Khan-starrer, the upcoming Sultan, has been cast opposite SRK, making it their third film together. It’s also been confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will be making a cameo in the film, having starred in Ali’s earlier films, Tamasha and Rockstar.
As per earlier reports, we can also confirm that SRK will be playing the role of a guide in the film while Sharma will essay the role of a tourist. SRK confirmed the rumours about his role by an**uncing his upcoming projects in one single tweet.
“I am a Warrior, a Dwarf & a Guide” **ted SRK. The other roles mentioned by SRK are a reference to his films with directors Aditya Chopra (in which he will be a warrior) and Aanand L Rai (in which he will essay role of a dwarf).
Moving on to Ali’s film, it will be shot in gorgeous locales like London, Budapest and Punjab and is all set to go on floors next month.
