Defying party line
MANSEHRA: Despite being asked by their respective party leadership **t to become part of the **-confidence motion against the district nazim of Torghar, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) councillors have moved a **-confidence motion against the district nazim.
The District Council Torghar is going to take up the motion for voting (today) Monday. The disgruntled PTI and ANP councillors being led by Dilroz Khan are hoping to get the top slot if the **-confidence move was successful. They have decided to go ahead with their strategy to dislodge District Nazim **or Mohammad. The alliance tabled the **-confidence motion against the district nazim with assistant director local government last week.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had barred PTI councillors from becoming part of the **-confidence motion against District Nazim **or Mohammad. ANP provincial President Ameer Haider Hoti had also asked his party councillors **t to be part of the **-confidence motion against the district nazim. “Our alliance is still intact with ANP. We are going to dislodge the district nazim through a democratic process,” said Dilroz Khan.
He termed the district nazim a ‘traitor’, saying that PTI councillors had given him an opportunity to become the district nazim, but when he didn’t resign in line with an earlier agreement.Meanwhile, ANP District Secretary Information Aziz Rahim told reporters that his party was closely monitoring the situation and those councillors who failed to toe party line would face de-seating. “Our party has decided in principle to stay away from the **-confidence motion initiated by disgruntled PTI councillors against their party’s district nazim,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that District Nazim **or Mohammad had earlier moved the Abbottabad circuit bench of Peshawar High Court for getting a stay order against the **-confidence motion. However, the court allowed the councillors to table the **-confidence motion against under the Local Government Act 2013.
