WASHINGTON: United States believes that Pakistan will **t be secure until and unless it takes actions against terrorist organisations, said Richard Olson, Special US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, here on Tuesday.
Speaking at a local think tank Olson emphasised that Pakistan had security challenges and needed a consolidated efforts against terrorist groups like Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network. "Pakistan will **t have a bright future until and unless it goes after the Taliban," Olson said, adding that the challenges for Pakistan had been its reluctance to take strong actions against these groups that go after its neighbours.
He praised the ongoing military operations in the country saying, that Pakistan was experiencing lower level of violence. He said that Pakistan remained committed to the peace process and this needed to be encouraged. He also pointed out that other country in the region had a role to play to bring peace to the region.
Olson termed Pakistan's concerns on India's role in Afghanistan as 'overestimated,' saying that "India has been a supportive partner for Afghanistan. It has provided a limited amount but important military assistance."
