ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that Pakistan will have to fence its borders with Afghanistan and Iran in a bid to end strained relationship with neighbours and for promoting bilateral trade on a permanent basis.
“We will have to install fence in the bordering areas of Afghanistan as well as Iran in order to promote trade on a long term basis,” the minister said while talking to a select group of reporters at an Iftar-dinner organised by him in ho**ur of journalists here on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Commerce, he said, refused to allow the import of cotton from India. Explaining the issue, the minister said that where the GDs were already opened the import of cotton from India would be allowed but his ministry would **t forward any summary for allowing its import from India. “Cotton can be imported from any other part of the world to meet domestic demands,” he added.
