PESHAWAR: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Monday lauded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for initiating work on the construction of 356 micro-hydel power stations in 12 under-developed districts of the province.
In this connection, a delegation of ADB, led by Adnan Tareen, called on Akbar Ayub Khan, the Chief Executive of Energy Development Organisation (PEDO), here. The PEDO official briefed the ADB delegates on the KP government’s progress in the construction of micro hydel stations.
The ADB delegates offered financial support in medium ranged energy projects through its Multi-Tranche Finance Facility (MFF) program to the KP government. The bank has been mulling a plan to assist the provincial government construct 1,000 to 1,500 mini-micro hydel stations in the province, the funding for which will be released soon, said the ADB officials.
