PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have established an incentive-based Police Information Network (PIN) under which any citizen can win a cash reward up to Rs100,000 for sharing with the force credible information about terrorists and their facilitators.
The network is initially being launched in Peshawar and will be expanded to other parts of the province later.With the launch of the PIN, citizens of Peshawar will be able to earn up to Rs100,000 without compromising own identities or informing police about terrorists, extortionists, target killers and their facilitatos. The decision to launch PIN was taken during a security meeting held at the ****** of the Inspector General Police last week. The meeting, chaired by the IGP, was attended by the heads of Special Branch, Counter-Terrorism Department and the Peshawar police.
During the meeting it was decided that a lot of valuable intelligence can be obtained from the fellow citizens provided they are sure that their identities will remain confidential. According to the Standing Operating Procedure, the PIN will be personally handled by senior most ******rs, including DIG CTD, CCPO, SSP of the CTD and SSP of Peshawar.
The citizens having any credible intelligence in the said categories will only have to send the term PIN as SMS on mobile phones of the above mentioned ******rs.These senior ******rs will then contact the sender personally for obtaining the information. Though unprecedented, the involvement of senior most ******rs will help build public trust and win credibility for the PIN.
