** confirmation of Mulla Mansour’s death; COAS also talked on the issue; US hit violation of Pak sovereignty; Panama commission to get full help
LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Sunday that he had received United States Secretary of State John Kerry’s phone call on Saturday night at 10:30pm and he had informed him about the Taliban leader’s killing after the attack.
According to Nawaz, he had been informed about the strike after it had been conducted. The PM said that the American commander had also spoken to the army chief General Raheel Sharif, who then held talks with him on the issue.
He said the American drone strike inside Pakistan which allegedly killed Taliban leader Mulla Mansour was a “violation of Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty”.
Speaking to the media here after reaching from Pakistan on a five-day private visit, Nawaz Sharif said that it was still to be confirmed whether Mulla Mansour had been killed or it was someone else. He said that Muhammad Wali had been identified and his papers had been found but ** clue had been found about Mulla Mansour.
Nawaz Sharif said that his government would extend full help to the commission to investigate the PanamaLeaks. He said the fact that he presented himself for accountability meant that he had **thing to hide from anyone. Without naming the PTI leader Imran Khan, the PM said that those raising a hue and cry over the Panama papers had been fully exposed before the nation as they had been caught with offshore companies and found involved in tax evasion. He said that the same people had been making allegations of wrongdoing against others as a matter of routine, forgetting that they had been involved in every kind of corruption.
He questioned: “What happened to their so-called moral high ground? Look at what high grounds? Look at what happened to their moral high grounds, they stand exposed. One should look at his own deeds before pointing fingers at others.”
In response to a question whether his recent speeches and rallies were in preparation for an upcoming election, Nawaz dismissed the **tion. He said that his rallies were aimed to development projects.
"I go to different places in the country for development projects," he said. "I recently went to Swat and was delighted to see people welcomed us with passion. Those who are in government in that province should realise the problems of the poor," he said, adding that the Naya Pakistan had failed to come into being.
Nawaz Sharif also said that he had spoken at length about the Panama papers issue and had also given a detailed explanation about his family's wealth in the National Assembly. Nawaz Sharif said that he had told the full truth to Parliament. “I explained how he went to Dubai, at that time I was a student and we set up our industry there. I explained when we sold our factories and how much we made and how we sent money to London to buy our flats.”
He said that during PPP’s nationalisation, their factories were occupied and the Sharif family was left empty handed. He said there was ** question of money being taken out of Pakistan by anyone. He said that when Musharraf forced him into exile, he was forced to leave for Jeddah from jail and **t a single penny was taken out. PM Sharif said that his family faced worst kind of discrimination and persecution and it was unfair to blame them for any wrongdoing.
The prime minister lashed out at his critics again when he claimed that some people were industrialists when they had their loans written off. Nawaz Sharif said that first it should be established before a commission whether his family received kickbacks or made black money. “First do that and then jump to the next level”.
Nawaz Sharif, without naming PTI leader Jehanagir Tareen and Chaudhrys of Gujrat, said that ** one should be allowed to get away and must be held accountable. He said that some opposition figures had their loans written off when they were industrialists. He said that loans were written off in cases where there were bankruptcies but the loan defaulters were **t only rich then but their wealth had increased ten times since then. He said their accountability would be part of the judicial commission on PanamaLeaks.
PM Nawaz Sharif said that industries in Pakistan were getting electricity on time and Pakistan had finally started moving towards progress and prosperity. He said that negative politics had been rejected by the people of Pakistan and there was ** chance of negative elements succeeding in politics.
