In a joint letter written to the IG referring to recently revealed organised child ***ual abuse, exploitation and child ****ography scandal in Swat, the civil society networks expressed agitation over the growing number of such cases in the province. The letter was written by National Action and Coordination Group (NACG) on Violence against Children (VAC) and the Child Rights Movement (CRM) and is endorsed by Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls Alliance and Insaani Haqooq Itehad.

According to the information shared by NACG and CRM in the letter, the incident of child ***ual abuse, exploitation, and child ****ography was reported from the Nawa Killi village in Mingora, Swat. A case has been registered under Sections 342/347/365/377/506 and a three member committee has been constituted under DSP Sadiq Akbar.

“Although it was revealed that some police officials were also involved in the abuse of children but **ne have been arrested so far. A man identified as Sherin Zada, has provided local journalists with hundreds of photos and videos allegedly taken while main suspect, Aurangzeb, was ***ually abusing different boys. Sherin Zada claimed to have received the material from one of his informers. He told journalists that his nephew was also kidnapped by the same gang and was still in their custody. Surprisingly however, the police have also arrested Sherin Zada, who brought the situation to light and is the complainant in the case,” claimed the letter.

The letter requested the IG to direct the Swat Police to immediately arrest all members of the gang, ensure protection of the all-important visual, chemical and forensic and DNA evidence and ensure that the gang gets exemplary punishment from the court.
