ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday issued **tice to Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP), Secretary Defence and JAG Branch (legal department of army) regarding death sentence awarded to a young boy. A three-member bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the appeal, filed against a military court verdict, which awarded death sentence to one Aksan Mehmoob on January 1, 2016. During the course of hearing, Justice Ameer Hani Muslim said that those who take lives of other persons should be hanged. Col (R) Muhammad Akram, counsel for the convict’s family argued that they were unaware of the reasons for the death sentence. The allegation against the convict was that he had links with banned organisations and had also attacked military installations. The court observed that their application is 38-days time barred. The counsel for the convict submitted that the father of the convict live in far flung area; therefore, the delay was caused. Meanwhile, the court after hearing the arguments issued **tice to the attorney general and the respondents and adjourned the hearing for one week.
