http://cdn.macrumors.com/article-new/2015/02/iphone7mockupantennabands-250x206.jpgApple will rely on multiple manufacturing partners to assemble the iPhone 7 (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-7/) and iPhone 7 Plus, including Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron, according to Taiwanese website DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20160517PD201.html).

The new 4.7-inch model will reportedly be assembled by Foxconn and Pegatron, while the 5.5-inch model will be made by Foxconn and Wistron. Apple typically diversifies suppliers to aim for a smooth iPhone launch.

"Wistron was a manufacturer of Apple's iPhone 5c and has already prepared sufficient capacity for the next-generation iPhone orders," the report adds. Wistron has also been tasked with iPhone SE orders (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/16/iphone-5se-ensure-smooth-launch/).

The report unsurprisingly confirms that Apple's next-generation flagship iPhones will launch at the end of the third quarter, setting the stage for a traditional September an**uncement and release, likely by ** later than the third week of the month.

DigiTimes has a mixed track record at reporting on Apple's upcoming product plans, but its sources within the upstream supply chain have proven reliable at times.

Rumors suggest the iPhone 7 could retain a 6s-like design (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/09/iphone-7-sketch-same-length-width-as-iphone-6s/) with a faster TSMC-built A10 chip (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/09/14/tsmc-a10-chip-iphone-7-march-2016/), slightly larger battery (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/18/iphone-7-alleged-battery-images/), waterproofing and dustproofing (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/25/iphone-7-touch-sensitive-home-button/), repositioned antenna bands (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/02/iphone-7-flush-camera-**-bands/), ** headphone jack (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/27/iphone-7-**-3-5mm-headphone-jack-lightning/), faster Intel LTE chips (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/17/intel-to-supply-up-to-half-lte-chips-iphone-7/), and more. Meanwhile, the larger iPhone 7 Plus (or Pro (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/29/iphone-7-plus-dual-cameras-iphone-pro)) could have a Smart Connector (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-and-7-plus-drawings-uswitch/), dual-lens camera (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-plus-single-model-3gb-ram/), and 3GB of RAM (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-plus-single-model-3gb-ram/).

Other rumors surrounding the next-generation smartphones have included a flush camera (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/01/iphone-7-flush-camera-stereo-speakers/), touch-sensitive home button (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/25/iphone-7-touch-sensitive-home-button/), stereo speakers (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/01/iphone-7-flush-camera-stereo-speakers), and wireless charging (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/17/wireless-charging-hires-ubeam/), but it remains possible that Apple dropped some of those features or chose to include them on the OLED-based iPhone with glass casing (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/17/iphone-glass-casing-amoled-2017/) rumored to launch in 2017.

Foxconn and Pegatron are recruiting new employees (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/17/foxconn-and-pegatron-begin-hiring/) to assist with the iPhone 7 ****** production ahead of September.
