The Punjab Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has urged health authorities in Punjab to seriously take up the issue of implementation of the Hospital Waste Management Rules 2014 in letter and spirit besides installation of incinerators and autoclaves in hospitals to ensure proper disposal of waste.
The department has convened a high level meeting to discuss this vital issue on May 23, 2016 and wrote a letter to Khawaja Salman Rafique, Adviser to Chief Minister for Health inviting him to attend the meeting at EPD ******, which will be chaired by Provincial Minister for Environment Zakia Shahnawaz. Officials said the main agenda of the meeting was to discuss installation of incinerators and autoclaves at all district hospitals, functioning of already installed incinerators/autoclaves in hospitals. —Correspondent
