Land dispute
MANSEHRA: The grand jirga of Harban tribe in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Thor tribe in Gilgit-Baltistan have agreed resolving a land dispute as members of the former tribe pardoned those responsible for the killing of three people in 2014.
The jirga was held in Harban area of Kohistan near the disputed land, where personnel of the Frontier Constabulary have been deputed since the bloody clash in 2014.
The elders of Harban tribe in Kohistan were led by Asadullah Qureshi while Dilbar Jan led the elders of Thor tribe. Both the sides agreed to resolve the dispute through talks.
They agreed that the families of the people killed in exchange of fire over the land dispute in 2014 would **t be paid blood money.
The families of those killed in the clashes also an**unced clemency.
Dilbar Jan also an**unced pardoning the blood of his son who was also killed during the clash in which three members of Harban tribe were also killed. The members of both the tribes have agreed to accept the decision to resolve the issue.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Kohistan Fazle Khaliq praised the role of the jirga, saying that **w the issue would be settled amicably.
“Once the jirga finalises its decision, we would convey it to the 10-member joint committee of GB and KP,” the official said.
He said peace would prevail and mega development projects including the Diamer-Bhasha dam could **w be executed.
In the past, the members of Harban and Thor tribes claimed the ownership of eight kilometer land on the boundary between GB and KP.
