Lahore: Two members of the Dolphin Force were injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on them at the city's Band Road area.
According to details, both injured Dolphin Force members were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Of the two, one was discharged from the hospital while the other was still undergoing treatment.
Police disclosed that the firing incident took place at Band Road's Malipur area, in which officials Tabassum and Shahzad were injured. The said persons were shifted to the Government Munshi hospital for treatment.
Tabassum was discharged from the hospital after receiving medical aid while Shahzad was transferred to Mayo Hospital where he was still undergoing treatment.
DIG Operations Haider Ashraf revealed how the Dolphin Force members had tried to stop two suspicious individuals at a police check-post by signaling them to halt. In response, the assailants opened fire on the security officials and fled.
The Dolphin Force is an elite security unit established by incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The nascent security force patrols the streets of Lahore on Honda CB motorbikes in a bid to keep the city more secure. The initiative was introduced by the provincial government to curb crime and nefarious activities within the city.
